Follow Iceland's Example
How Iceland stalks its banksters
12 July 2012
LE MONDE PARIS
In London, Barclays rigged the interest rates on interbanks loans [LIBOR] while in Madrid, Bankia cooked the books in order go public. How can banks be held accountable? Iceland has appointed a team of investigators that seeks out fraud and sends the perpetrators to court.
At the end of 2008, the Icelandic bubble burst as a consequence of the subprime crisis in the United States. Two weeks after the dramatic fall of Lehman Brothers, the country's three major banks – valued at 923% of gross domestic product (GDP) – collapsed. The crisis swept through the island, the Icelandic krona dropped in value and no intervention could halt its downward spiral. On October 6, 2008, live on national television, the then-prime minister ended his speech by asking God to "save the island".

Book Review by Bobby Matherne 2007 [excerpts]
After reading this book, we can be passive readers no longer. Anastasia lays out a plan for each of us to construct our own piece of Paradise on a hectare of land (2.5 acres) in which we may live healthy and productive lives without depending upon some federal agency to provide us health care, medicines, or any of the other obtrusive interventions which have progressively reduced both the quality of life and independence of human beings across the globe...

Visioning for Our New Earth
We humans are an evolving species, and we are at a crisis. We’ve seen that evolution appears to always be precipitated by crisis. We’ve certainly created a crisis for ourselves - with global climate change, environmental degradation, overpopulation, and an unwillingness to address these issues. It is time for a huge leap in consciousness, and I believe that NOW is the time for that leap.
Imagine* a world where no one goes hungry, where everyone has ample food and shelter.
A world where the challenge is to see how much we can learn, how creative we can become, how loving we can be.
Imagine a clean world of green energy and respect for our planet and the wildlife that share it with us.
Imagine a world of kindness and compassion, of art and music and literature.
Imagine a world where greed is seen as the mental disease that used to afflict humankind before we grew up.
Imagine it... and hold that picture in your mind.
This humble blog is a single voice out of millions of us who want to create a better civilization for ourselves and our children.

WHAT IS THE PROBLEM FACING THE USA?
What is the problem facing the USA? Materialism, corporate control of the media, misinformation, wealth inequality, greed and lack of respect for the planet come immediately to mind. De-regulation of Wall Street and Banks is a large part of the problem, as is the deadly Citizens United Supreme Court decision that finally allowed multinational corporations to outright purchase our elections. Lobbyists write legislation, buy politicians, and put their own laws in place. Or sometimes the lobbyists simply become the politicians for a while. There is a word for a system where corporate power merges with political power, and that word is fascism. I know we prefer not to use this word, since the crazies often use it incorrectly and have thus diluted its meaning. But there it is.
Corporate ownership of all media in America allows the top 1% to control our news and until recently, almost completely control our national conversation (currently just 6 giant conservative corporations decide just about everything you see and hear).
However, the voice of the people is beginning to come through. All over the world, the PEOPLE are Occupying – working to create a new society. Change IS happening — often ignored by a media that is owned by the corporate overlords who benefit from the old system. Therefore, we need to share it when we learn about it, and bypass the propaganda.

Co-creating Our New Earth: Guided Meditation
I’m seeing a beautiful green healed earth where life thrives. An open, free, equal democratic society where each member is honored and encouraged to reach their highest potential.
A world of cherished wildlife, restored forests, undammed rivers and a clean oceans teeming with life.A planet where humans are challenged to discover our own creative potential and expand our wisdom instead of merely piling up material wealth.I’m seeing a world full of music and poetry and art, of cooperation over competition.I’m seeing abundant, alternative free clean energy.I’m visualizing the military helping the downtrodden, helping to rebuild wetlands, forests, and homes – rather than going to eternal wars over resources.I’m seeing an end to dogmatic religions, discarded as we outgrow such tools of the old elite, but instead being replaced with curiosity, gratitude, and a sense of wonder at this amazing life we have the opportunity to experience.I’m visualizing each of us discovering that our ability to love all beings is far greater than we’d ever imagined.

Libor scandal rings hollow
WASHINGTON: Ben Bernanke heads the most powerful central bank in the world. Yet the Federal Reserve chairman says he was largely powerless to stop what some are calling the biggest financial fraud in history: the systematic manipulation of a key global interest rate.
It's a line of argument that has fallen flat with some lawmakers and investors, who want to know why Bernanke and other key US regulators did not do more to end a potentially criminal rigging of interest rates affecting trillions of dollars in financial contracts.
