The White House is expected to make a major announcement that could involve New Zealand.
Foreign Minister Winston Peters has been given a high level briefing from Secretary of State Rex Tillerson about moves the United States wants to make in the Asia Pacific, but he's been sworn to secrecy.
"Tillerson wants New Zealand to be engaged in something and you will learn more in the coming days," says Mr Peters.
