"One of the challenging things here is to see the way Ukrainians have been pitted against Russians - and vice versa. The Ukraine history being what it it is leaves a different orientation toward Russia and not always one very good for some people. I've heard stories of the past from families here. And so a division is caused, based upon peoples beliefs and experiences is created.
"Hitler had a saying, "If you want to defeat the Russians you have to get them to believe they're not Russian."
"This division is being done through forcing Ukrainian language and other changes that have been made over the decades.
"Those Ukrainians whose families have dark memories of the former days under Soviet Union are very wary. Others are not. But the effect has had very serious consequences between the people Russian and Ukrainian."
