First press gallery: Press secretary launches tirade against MSM misreporting

Sean Spicer, Donald Trump's future press secretary, says "Business as usual is over" when it comes to the new administration

Press secretary Sean Spicer.

Updates on the President's activities.

Before I get to the news of the day, I want to talk about the coverage of the past 24 hours.
Some members of the media were engaged in deliberate false reporting.

eg 1: "The bust of Martin Luther King Junior was removed from the Oval Office" was Tweeted out by a member of the press corps. This was irresponsible and reckless.
eg 2:  Photographs of the inaugural proceedings were intentionally framed in a way to minimise the enormous support on the National Mall.

The President was at the CIA today and was greeting by a raucous 400 employees. They are delighted at his presidency. He told them, "I have your back". They gave him a 5 minute standing ovation at the end of his speech. There is no CIA director currently because the Democrats are stalling the nomination of Mike Pompeo and playing politics with national security.

The president is committed to unifying the country. This dishonesty in the media is making it more difficult to do this. We are going to hold the press accountable. He will take his message directly to the American people where his focus will always be.

More updates from the day:

There was a constructive conversation with Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and there will be meetings in the days to come.

Contact with the President of Mexico and discussion about the meeting with him on the 31st January.

Preparations are being made for the visit of the British Prime Minister Theresa May who is arriving this Thursday to Washington. She is the first foreign leader to visit under the new presidency.

On Sunday there will be a swearing in for the assistant to the President, there will be an ethics briefing and the handling of classified information.

Sunday evening, there will be a reception for police and first responders who helped support the inauguration.
