A Completely New Situation: The Issue as Hamilton Understood It

- by LarouchePAC - Dec15, 2014

Over the course of the last week, a completely new situation has developed in the U.S. and by implication globally, marked by the release of the U.S. Senate Select Committee on Intelligence's "Torture Report," on the one hand, and the revolt which occurred in the U.S. Congress against a measure in the Omnibus Budget Bill to repeal Section 716 of the Dodd-Frank Act, which had excluded some of the riskiest derivatives transactions from FDIC protection, on the other hand.

This has thrust Lyndon LaRouche and his friends into a totally new kind of national and international leadership. Once thrust into that sort of leadership, one has no choice but to live up to it.

The release of the torture report has the potential to reverse the entire dictatorial regime instituted after #9/11. If pushed to its fullest extent, this report could lead, in combination with the release of the 28-page chapter of the Joint Congressional Inquiry on foreign sponsorship of 9/11, to a situation in which, as was said during the Watergate period in the 1970s, "all the trees in the forest will fall."

Given the fact that the torture program was implemented under the Bush/Cheney regime and has been protected by Obama and his Department of Justice, its release has the potential to transform the U.S. political landscape.

On Sunday, Lyndon LaRouche emphasized that the LaRouche movement is now in a position to exert increased leadership nationally and internationally. In that context, he stressed that the issue is the U.S. as Hamilton understood it. Therefore, what must be emphasized is the principle of the nation. In the United States, we have to continue to concentrate on the New York City area as the lever to move the nation and the world. Don't try to reduce things to local or state issues. In the United States, we have to have a national view, otherwise we will fail. We must focus on the unity of the U.S. as a nation, with the states merely a part of a national system.

Helga Zepp-LaRouche, speaking from Germany, emphasized the international reverberations of what has happened, and stressed that despite the efforts by the Bush Leaguers to intimidate others, the genie can't be put back in the bottle. She said that there is a tremendous chance for the U.S. to undo the British injection of Nazi philosophy into our institutions. This is a unique chance to go back to the true identity of the U.S. as a republic. The situation can go in either direction—to Heaven or to Hell. Returning to the theme developed by Lyndon LaRouche, in terms of the unique responsibility of the LaRouche movement at this juncture, she stressed that it is our job to ensure that this is a turning point in history for the good.
