MegaUpload Mr. Kim Dot Com Watched: US Spy Bases in NZ

Why was Dotcom being watched?

The saga has dragged on for Dotcom...

Dotcom Snooping More Evidence GCSB is Not under Control

Chief Reporter

Prime Minister Key is extremely naïve, or lying, when he says he is “shocked” by allegations that the GCSB intervened in the Dotcom case on behalf of the United States.

...  The staff at the Waihopai spy base routinely intercept communications for their US and UK big brothers with few questions asked. The spy base does not operate in the interests of New Zealand and should be closed down....

At a minimum the GCSB should be put under proper control by a Parliamentary Select Committee...

Let the Yanks do their own dirty work rather than hiding behind a so-called "New Zealand" spy agency.

US Spy Base.  PRIVATE:  "You are now entering the jurisdiction of the United States of America. Trespassers will be prosecuted under US Federal Law."

Waihopai court action waste of time, Locke says

Last month a jury found teacher Adrian Leason, 45, Dominican friar Peter Murnane, 69, and farmer Sam Land, 26, not guilty of charges of burglary and wilful damage.
Despite admitting their actions they argued they had "claim of right" to attack the base and believed they were acting lawfully, as well as saving lives in Iraq by disrupting satellite eavesdropping and working for the greater good...
"Civil proceedings would also raise the question of what this essentially American spy base is doing on our soil, and how much this is costing the New Zealand taxpayer each year. It would be better for the Government to come clean on the real purpose of Waihopai, and its cost, rather than continuing to pursue its critics."
