Green Party News Letter:   28 Sept. 2012

Green Party signatures returned: 140,679
Coalition requirement: 380,000 to gain 308,000 valid signatures
Coalition total: 260,000 estimated

Hey collectors, you're on fire. Don't stop now!

We've had massive hauls of signatures in the Keep Our Assets mailbox lately, and we're certainly doing well in the warmer weather. We may be on the home stretch but there's still a way to go and it's up to you now to approach friends and family, join an event team and deliver this petition home.
Depending on our coalition partners, we know we'll be accepting petition forms for at least another month. This referendum will be called for by the will and the passion of every-day, mum-and-dad Asset Keepers. You're doing us proud!

Story of the week    [I loved this so had to add it ]   : )

The Keep Our Assets petition is next to the coffee machine at the Culverden Tearooms in rural North Canterbury. Elspeth, a softly spoken woman told us about a man who came in to the shop wearing gumboots and looking pretty rough. He found the petition, picked it up and started yelling,
"Who's responsible for this!?"
Elspeth was quite nervous about the potential hostility brewing but she thought, 'I'm proud of what we are doing,' so came out and said "I am".
The man continued: "Yeah? Well who's put you up to it? Huh?" and she said, "Well, I've collected these sheets for the Green Party office," to which the man replied in a booming voice, "Bloody good job, too!" and he signed the petition while vocalising sentiments that probably don't need to be repeated.

Do you know of a hosted petition site in your neighbourhood? Now's a good time to check it, re-stock it and send in all the signatures it's collected, even if it's just a few!
