New Zealand's Prime minister John Key says he attended a secret briefing in Washington DC, during his visit to the United States in June.
The top level meeting was attended by "principle security and intelligence advisers", according to TV3 reporter Patrick Gower.
During the TV3 news interview (linked below), Gower asked Key at what level of "intelligence"was the group that met.
"The best intelligence sources in America," Key said.
It could be said that John Key's outing of the "secret" meeting shows neither discretion, nor "intelligence".
This begs the question: Why was NZ Prime Minister John Key invited to attend a top-level United States National Security council meeting in June 2014?
Were the prime ministers of the United Kingdom, Canada or Australia also in attendance at the meeting, given the common interest these nations have in the five eyes spy network (GCSB)?
There was no mention in the TV3 interview of any other foreign diplomat attending this high-level meeting in Washington DC.
So WHY was John Key invited? - A relatively insignificant leader (one would have thought) of a small country in a backwater, in the far South Pacific.
Perhaps Key's time spent as an adviser to chaiman of the US Federal Reserve Bank Alan Greenspan (1999-2001), at which time he worked as a Head FOREX trader with Merrill Lynch in London, offers a few more clues.
Other than Key having previously forged a very close alliance with the United States of America, before becoming Prime Minister of New Zealand, an invitation to a top level US security briefing, beggars belief.

BACK BENCHES (NZ interview show): U.S. & US (25 JUNE 2014)
Published on Jun 25, 2014
Prime Minister John Key just returned from his trip to the U.S. where he visted New York City, lobbying for a seat on the UN Security Council, and spent time in the Oval Office with the President Barack Obama, talking Iraq and the TPP. Is their budding bromance is a good thing for New Zealand?
- a pity about Catherine Delahunty's facial hair. No... not all NZ women are moustached!
Following are the time marks for the original TV3 video hosted by Hilary Barry and Mike McRoberts, now removed.
0:11 "The insurgent group known as ISIS rebrands as John Key admits to a secret briefing on Iraq from Obama's best advisers."
5:40 Key had an "off the books briefing on Iraq from Barak Obama's most senior advisers."
Patrick Gower 6:08 "... Key now admitting to a secret meeting while he was in Washington... principle security and intelligence advisers... the best intelligence sources in America... multiple agencies... The National Security Council... Barak Obama's key advisers."
8:27 "ISIS" is said to be "rebranding". It now wants to be known as "The Islamic State".
Note: American media streams seem to still be persisting with the name "ISIS"
"The beleaguered Iraqi government" is the US-UN-installed government, post the collapse of the Hussein dictatorship in Iraq in 2003.
This phenomena of US-UN-installed governments is nothing new. The proliferation of US-installed governments and dictators has not been uncommon since 1949, not only throughout South America but in other parts of the world as well.

Covert United States foreign regime change actions
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Regime change has been attempted through direct involvement of U.S. operatives, the funding and training of insurgency groups within these countries, anti-regime propaganda campaigns, coups d'état, and other activities usually conducted as operations by the CIA. The United Stateshas also accomplished regime change by direct military action, such as following the U.S. invasion of Panama in 1989 and the U.S.-led military invasion of Iraq in 2003.The United States has been involved in and assisted in the overthrow of foreign governments (more recently termed "regime change") without the overt use of U.S. military force. Often, such operations are tasked to the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA).
Some argue that non-transparent United States government agencies working in secret sometimes mislead or do not fully implement the decisions of elected civilian leaders and that this has been an important component of many such operations,[1] see plausible deniability. Some contend that the U.S. has supported more coups against democracies that it perceived as communist, becoming communist, or pro-communist.[1]
The U.S. has also covertly supported opposition groups in various countries without necessarily attempting to overthrow the government. For example, the CIA funded anti-communist political parties in countries such as Italy and Chile; it also armed Kurdish rebels fighting the Ba'athistgovernment of Iraq in the Second Kurdish-Iraqi War prior to the Algiers Agreement.
